Rural Photography Contest Rules
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
The “2015 Rural Photography Contest” (#123) is sponsored by RDA Enthusiast Brands, LLC, the publisher of Country Magazine (“Sponsor”).
Entrants will be required to submit photographs in 4 categories. Judges will select a total of 16 semi-finalists in each of 4 categories: Animals, Scenery, People and Kids. Each contest category will be publicly voted upon. Contest will culminate with a public vote in accordance with the Voting Terms and Conditions for this Contest to determine 4 finalists and 1 Grand Prize Winner. All winners may have their name, photograph and story published in a future issue of Country Magazine. All winners may also be featured on Country’s website, Facebook page and any other social media outlets.
WHO CAN ENTER:
You are eligible to enter this Contest if you are 18 years of age or older as of September 1st, 2014 and are a legal United States resident residing in one of the 50 United States or District of Columbia, or a legal resident of Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec) during the Contest period. Entries originating from any other jurisdiction are not eligible for entry.
The following people are not eligible to enter and will be disqualified if entered: Employees, officers and directors of Sponsor, its parents, subsidiaries and affiliated companies or any promotion, advertising, judging or public relations company doing business with Sponsor or any of its parents, subsidiaries and affiliated companies, or a member of the immediate family (parent or legal guardian, children, siblings or spouse, regardless of where they live) or same person of such employees, officers or directors (whether related or not).
This Contest is void where prohibited or otherwise regulated.
Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions, which are final and legally binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
HOW TO ENTER:
The Contest begins at 12:01 am Central Time (CT) on September 1st, 2014 and ends at 11:59 pm on December 1st, 2014. All submissions must be received by 11:59pm CT on December 1st, 2014. Sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for the Contest. All submissions received after December 1st, 2014 will be held and automatically be entered into the 2016 Rural Photography Contest. Online voting starts on or about December 23rd, 2014 for all the 16 semi-finalist selections.
To enter, send us an unmounted 8×10 color photograph. On a separate piece of paper, print your name, street address, daytime telephone number and the category in which the photo is to be entered. Include details about where the photo was taken, the people in it and your relationship to them, and any other information that would help us write a caption. Tape the paper to the back of the photo. Don’t write on the photo itself. Please note that prints made at home should be printed on glossy, premium photo stock. We cannot accept photos via email for this contest. Send all entries to:

Entry limit: six images per person. All photographs must be the original work of the entrant, or must have the photographer’s written permission authorizing contest entry. Written permission of the photographer must accompany submitted photographs at the time of entry into the contest. Photographs must not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
JUDGING OF PHOTOGRAPHS:
All entries must meet the Contest requirements. A panel of Country staff members will review and select 16 semi-finalist winners (4 in each category) based on the following criteria:
• Originality: 20%
• Quality: 60%
• Personality: 20%
In the event of a tie, the highest score in the Quality category will be determined the winner.
Decisions of the judges are final in all matters relating to this Contest.
The total number of entries anticipated is 4,000.
VOTING FOR WINNERS:
To vote electronically, anyone with an email address may go to country-magazine.com and vote in accordance with the Voting Terms and Conditions for this Contest. The voting process will commence on or about December 23rd, 2014 at 12:01am. The category finalist voting process will have 4 rounds and end on or about 11:59pm on August 10th, 2015. Voting for round 1 (Animal Category) will run from 12:01am December 23rd, 2015 to 11:59 pm February 16th, 2015. Voting for round 2 (Scenery Category) will run from 12:01 am February 16th, 2015 to 11:59 pm April 13th, 2015. Voting for round 3 (People Category) will run from 12:01 am April 13th, 2015 to June 15th, 2015. Voting for round 4 (Kids Category) will run from 12:01 am June 15th, 2015 to 11:59 pm August 10th, 2015. The four finalists from each category who receive the most votes in each round will move on to the voting bracket for Grand Prize Winner. Voting for Grand Prize Winner will run from 12:01 am August 11th, 2015 to October 12th, 2015.
In the event of technical difficulties or for other reasons, contest submission and voting dates are subject to change without notice. Limit one vote per person per category. Automated or multiple voting mechanisms are strictly prohibited. Any votes suspected by the judges to be fraudulent may be disqualified, in the judges’ sole discretion, and could affect the final standings prior to announcement. Additionally, any person employing such device will be disqualified.
NOTIFICATION OF SEMI-FINALISTS AND GRAND PRIZE WINNERS:
If you are one of the Potential Winners, you will be notified via phone, email, and/or postal mail by the following schedule:
The 16 semi-finalists (4 in each category) will be notified on or before December 9th, 2015. The winner of the Animal Category will be notified on or about February 20th, 2015. The winner of the Scenery Category will be notified on or about April 17th, 2015. The winner of the People Category will be notified on or about June 19th, 2015. The winner of the Kids Category will be notified on or about August 14th, 2015. The Grand Prize winner will be notified on or about October 16th, 2015.
All selected semifinalists and the Grand Prize Winner will be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility and a liability release and return within 2 weeks of receipt of notification. Any winner who does not comply with this requirement or cannot be easily located using the information provided in the entry may be disqualified and an alternate semifinalist may be selected. In the event the winner is a minor in his or her place of residence, all required documentation must be signed by parent or legal guardian. If the winner of any voting round is a resident of Canada, Sponsor may also require him or her to answer a mathematical time-limited skill-testing question. Failure to answer the question correctly, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will result in disqualification and, at Sponsor’s discretion, an alternate winner may be selected. Except where prohibited by law, each winner will be required to grant to Sponsor all right, title and interest in the submitted entry and to sign a release giving Sponsor full rights to use the winner’s name and likeness for Contest related advertising and publicity, including such usage on the internet.
The winners will be publicly announced and posted on country-magazine.com, and each winning entry may be published in an issue of Country magazine.
A total of 16 semi-finalists, 4 finalists and 1 Grand Prize winner will be selected. The 16 semifinalists (4 from each category) will each receive a $100 cash prize, the 4 finalists will each receive an additional $200 cash prize and the one (1) Grand Prize Winner will also receive a check for $1,000. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a similar prize of equal or greater value in the event that the stated prize cannot be awarded due to circumstances beyond the control of the Sponsor. All taxes, if any, are each winner’s responsibility. Sponsor will not be responsible for any loss, liability or damage arising out of any winner’s acceptance or use of the prize(s). All prizes are guaranteed to be awarded, assuming a sufficient number of qualifying entries is received. The total approximate retail value of all prizes is $3,400.
Sponsor and its promotion agencies are not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, illegible, misdirected or otherwise undeliverable mail or entries. Sponsor is not liable for any technical malfunctions of any telephone network lines, computer internet system, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of an email on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading/uploading any materials in the Contest, or other technical difficulties or failures or other errors of any kind. Entrants agree to indemnify Sponsor, its affiliated and subsidiary companies from and against any and all claims and liabilities arising out of or in connection with this Contest. In the event of any dispute regarding the identity of an entrant who submitted an online entry, the authorized account holder of the email address used for the entry at the time of entry will be deemed the entrant. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an internet access provider, online service provider or other organization (e.g. business, educational institute) that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
By submitting your photograph, you accept all Contest rules and agree to be bound by the decisions of the judges, which will be final. You also agree that your photograph become the sole property of Sponsor upon receipt and will not be returned. Sponsor reserves the right to edit for brevity and clarity, adapt, copyright, publish, transfer and use any or all entries in all print and electronic media without further compensation. Sponsor reserves the right in their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest at any time for any reason. In such a circumstance, Sponsor will select the winners based on eligible entries received to date of termination. In the event that two similar entries are received, only the entry judged to best meet criteria as set by Sponsor will be included in the final judging. Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or website or violates the Official Rules.
NO RECOURSE TO JUDICIAL OR OTHER PROCEDURES/SEVERABILITY:
To the extent permitted by law, the rights to litigate, to seek injunctive relief or to make any other recourse to judicial or any other procedure in case of disputes or claims resulting from or in connection with this Contest are hereby excluded, and any entrant expressly waives any and all such rights. In the event that a court of competent jurisdiction finds the foregoing waiver unenforceable, entrants hereby consent to the jurisdiction and venue residing exclusively within the federal or state courts sitting in Milwaukee County in the State of Wisconsin and agree that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action. Entrants agree that these Official Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without reference to principles of conflicts of law. If any provision(s) of these Official Rules are held to be invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions hereof will remain in full force and effect.

VOTING TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The public will be provided with the opportunity to visit www.countrymagazine.com (the “Site”) for five rounds of public voting. The public will be asked to select his/her favorite entry for the Animal Category (round one), between December 23rd, 2014 at 12:01 a.m. Central Time and February 16th, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time (the “Round 1 Voting Period”) subject to the terms and conditions herein. The public will be asked to select his/her favorite entry for the Scenery Category (round two), between February 16th, 2015 at 12:01 a.m. Central Time and April 13th, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time (the “Round 2 Voting Period”) subject to the terms and conditions herein. The public will be asked to select his/her favorite entry for the People Category (round three), between April 13th, 2015 at 12:01 a.m. Central Time and June 15th, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time (the “Round 3 Voting Period”) subject to the terms and conditions herein. The public will be asked to select his/her favorite entry for the Kids Category (round four), between June 15th, 2015 at 12:01 a.m. Central Time and August 10th, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time (the “Round 4 Voting Period”) subject to the terms and conditions herein. Limit one (1) vote per person during each of the Rounds 1-4 Voting Periods. The public will be asked to select his/her favorite entry from the four finalists from each category (“Final Round Voting Period”), choosing their favorite to determine one grand prize winner between August 11th, 2015 at 12:01 a.m. Central Time and October 12th, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time (the “Final Round Voting Period”) subject to the terms and conditions herein. Limit one (1) vote per person during the Final Round Voting Period. Votes must be entered manually. Entrants are prohibited from obtaining votes by any fraudulent or inappropriate means, including, without limitation, paying for votes, offering sweepstakes/contest entries, awards or other inducements or any kind of consideration to persons in exchange for votes, or as determined by RDA Enthusiast Brands, LLC (“Sponsor”) in its sole discretion. Votes generated by script, macro or other automated means or which subvert or impair the integrity of the voting process, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, will be void. Any attempt by Entrant and/or his/her family/friends or any other individual to vote using any fraudulent mechanism, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, shall give Sponsor the right to void the votes in question and/or disqualify the Entrant in its sole discretion. Voting must be completed by the actual person casting the vote. A person may not vote on behalf of another person. Multiple votes by one person per category will be disqualified. Voters must follow instructions on Site to submit their votes. Sponsor and its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, consultants, agents, participating advertising and promotion agencies and suppliers, and the respective officers, directors, shareholders, employees, agents and representatives of the foregoing (collectively, “Released Parties”) are not responsible for incorrect/inaccurate voting information. Released Parties assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, votes. Released Parties are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any vote to be cast or tabulated on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at a website, or any combination thereof or for any other reason, or for any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in voting process or downloading any materials. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE VOTING PROCESS OR THE COMPETITION IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify, terminate, or suspend the voting or void any vote should a virus, bug, non-authorized human intervention, action of Entrant or voter, or other cause corrupt or impair the administration, security, or fairness of the voting. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual they find to be violating these terms, tampering with the voting process, or acting in an unsportsmanlike or improper manner and void all associated votes. If the voting process is terminated early by Sponsor, Sponsor reserves the right to count the eligible votes among all non-suspect, eligible votes received up to time of cancellation, or not count the votes and simply base the winning entries on the judging criteria outlined in the Contest official rules. The decision of the Sponsor with respect to the tallying of votes, and the invalidation or disqualification of any suspected votes, shall be in its sole discretion and final and binding.
